Issue Description
When adding a new pen type through the "Pens and Colors" window, it may not appear as expected after switching between views. This can happen if the changes are not stored correctly. How can the new pen type be properly added and saved?
Solution
When modifying Pensets, it is essential to store the changes to ensure they are saved. Follow these steps to correctly add and save a new pen type:
- Access the Pens and Colors Window:
Navigate to: Options > Element Attributes > Pens and Colors (Model Views)... - Modify the Penset:
- In the Penset table, locate the last four rows. These are typically reserved for customizations.
- Select one of these rows and modify its properties, such as:
- Pen Weight: Adjust the line thickness.
- Color: Assign a desired color.
- Description: Optionally add a note to help identify its purpose.
- Store the Changes:
Once the modifications are complete, save the changes by clicking the Store as... button. This action will prompt you to:- Overwrite an Existing Penset: If the changes should apply to an existing Penset.
- Store as Custom Penset: If you want to preserve the original Penset and create a separate one.
- Update Viewpoints:
If a new Penset is created, update the associated viewpoints to ensure they reflect the new settings. This can be done by assigning the new Penset in the viewpoint settings. - Save and Apply:
After storing the changes, click OK to save and exit. The new pen type will now be reflected in the specified Penset and any associated viewpoints.
By following these steps, the new pen type will persist across views and ensure consistency in your project visuals. Always double-check that the Penset is properly stored and assigned to avoid discrepancies.
