Issue Description
I wanted to add automatic labels on the Drawing Title of the details to show the source drawing’s location. Is there an automatic way to do it in Archicad?
Solution
Archicad offers a Back Reference function, which allows you to include Layout ID information in the Drawing Title. This feature automatically displays the ID of one or more Layouts containing a Drawing that serves as the source marker for the current Drawing. It is beneficial for Drawings derived from Sections, Elevations, Interior Elevations, Details, or Worksheets. Here's how to enable and use it effectively:
1. Navigate to the Layout Sheet containing the drawing(s) you want to add Back Referencing to, and open the Drawing Selection Settings.
2. In the Drawing Selection Settings, go to the Title section. Select “Back Reference”
3. In the Back Reference pop out window, check, Enable Back Reference. You have the option to select all available back references or check only selected drawings. Click OK.
4. For further enhancement, you can include Prefix.
In the Drawing Selection Settings > Drawing Title section > Title Text… tab, add Prefix word.
Once your Layouts are published as a PDF, Back References become clickable. Clicking the reference in the PDF automatically navigates to the referenced sheet. This functionality is especially valuable for complex projects with multiple sheets and references, as it enhances navigation and usability for reviewers and collaborators.
