Issue Description
I’ve created a personalized list of Favorites in Archicad that I frequently use for my projects. Now, I want to apply the same Favorites to another file without having to recreate them. Is there a way to export these Favorites and import them into a new project?
Solution
Archicad provides an easy process for exporting Favorites from one file and importing them into another, ensuring your custom settings are seamlessly transferred. Follow these steps to maintain your preferred configurations:
1: Open the Favorites Palette
Navigate to Window > Palettes > Favorites to display the Favorites palette.
2: Export Favorites
- Click the Gear Icon and choose Import/Export Favorites.
- In the Import/Export Favorites dialog box, under the Export to section, select:
- File (PRF): Saves all Favorites as a single PRF file.
- Folder: Exports Favorites as individual XML files.
Tip: When using the Folder option, create a dedicated folder to keep the XML files organized.
Click Export, specify a location, and save the file(s).
3: Import Favorites into Another File
- Open the new project file where you want to import the Favorites.
- Open the Favorites palette (repeat Step 1 if necessary).
- Click the Gear Icon and select Import/Export Favorites.
- In the Import/Export Favorites dialog box, under the Import from section, choose File then clock Import to locate the previously exported PRF file.
TIP:
When using the Folder option to export XML files, ensure all files are stored in their proper folder structure before importing. This prevents any errors during the process.
By exporting and importing Favorites, you can carry over your preferred settings across files, saving time and effort in recreating them.
