Issue Description
I have created various custom Complex Profiles in previous projects. How can I import these profiles to a new project?
Solution
Archicad provides a straightforward process to export Complex Profiles from one file and import them into another. This ensures consistency and saves time when working across multiple projects. Here’s how to do it:
In the Source file, go to Attribute Manager. Options > Element Attributes > Attribute Manager.
- In the Attribute Manager window, go to the Complex Profiles tab. On the left side, select all the Profiles that need to be exported. Use Cmd + A (macOS) or Ctrl + A (Windows) to select all profiles.
- Click Append. All selected Profiles will then be shown on the right side, marked as “Temporary”. Ensure the Include All Associated Attributes checkbox is checked to preserve dependencies like building materials and fills.
- On the upper right, click Export and save the profiles as an XML file in your preferred location.
- In the new project, navigate to Options > Element Attributes > Attribute Manager.
- Proceed to Complex Profiles tab. Select “Import”. Look for the previously saved XML file then click OK.
- Once imported, all Profiles will now then be displayed on the right side of Attribute Manager.
- Select all profiles then click Append so these profiles move to the left side.
- A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark (!) will appear in the Changes tab, indicating pending updates. Go on the Changes tab. Click “Apply All” then click OK to Save.
By following these steps, you can easily reuse your custom Complex Profiles across multiple projects, ensuring uniformity and reducing setup time.
