Issue Description
Different drawings require me to switch the Partial Structure Display. After I do, my dimensions go missing.
Solution
When dimensions disappear in Archicad after switching the Partial Structure Display, it's usually because the dimensions are associated with elements that become hidden or their reference points are no longer visible in the chosen display mode. Here's how to fix or manage this issue:
Understanding the Issue
The Partial Structure Display affects how building elements (walls, slabs, etc.) are shown:
- Entire Model: Displays all components, including core, finishes, and additional layers.
- Core Only: Shows only the structural core of elements.
- Without Finishes: Displays core and other structural elements but hides finishes.
If the dimension points are snapped to elements in finishes or layers hidden by the current setting, the dimensions will no longer appear.
1. Adjust Dimension References
- Ensure dimensions are linked to points that remain visible in all Partial Structure Display modes:
- Snap dimensions to the core edges or structural elements.
- Avoid snapping to finishes or layers that might be hidden in specific modes.
2. Use the Correct Partial Structure Display Setting
- Determine which Partial Structure Display is most appropriate for your work.
- To change it, go to Document > Partial Structure Display and select the mode that ensures your dimensions remain visible.
TIPS:
- When dimensioning, always check the Partial Structure Display mode you’re working in to ensure references will remain consistent.
- Save Views with specific settings, including Partial Structure Display, to avoid losing your dimensioning work.
