Issue Description
A common requirement when working on multiple projects is to maintain consistency, especially with design settings like pen sets. If the pen set from a previous project is needed in the next project how do we do this?
Solution
You can easily transfer pen sets from one project to another by exporting and importing them.
Export the Pen Set from the Source File.
- Open the source file (the project that contains the pen set you want to reuse).
- Navigate to Options > Element Attributes > Attributes.
- In the Attributes window, select the Pens and Colors folder.
- Choose the specific pen set you want to export.
- Click the Export button.
- Save the file as an XML file in a location you can easily find later. (Take note of this location for importing later.)
Import the Pen Set into the New Project.
- Open the new Archicad project where you want to import the pen set.
- Go to Options > Element Attributes > Attributes.
- In the Attributes, once again select Pens and Colors. Click the Import button.
- In the Import Attributes window, browse for the saved XML file from Step 1. Ensure that the file is selected, and place a checkmark on the pen set you want to import. Click Import to complete the process.
TIP: Create a template. Templates are a powerful way to streamline your work, ensure consistency, and tailor Archicad to your needs. For more information follow this guide.
