Issue Description
In this project, there’s a storage space under the stairs, which needs to be fully enclosed by walls. The challenge is trimming the walls to match the shape of the stairs. How can this be done?
Solution
To achieve this, the Solid Element Operations tool in Archicad can be used.
-
Switch to 3D View.
Navigate to the 3D View of your project to have a clear view of both the walls and the stairs. -
Access Solid Element Operations.
Go to the menu bar and select Design > Solid Element Operations to open the tool window.
-
Add the Wall/s as Targets
Select all the walls that need to be trimmed and, in the Solid Element Operations window, click the “Add as Target” button.
-
Add the Stairs as the Operator.
Select the stairs, which will act as the trimming element, and click “Add as Operator” in the same window.
-
Choose an Operation:
Under the Operation section, select Subtraction with upward extrusion from the dropdown menu. This ensures that the walls will be trimmed to follow the shape of the stairs above. Once everything is set, press Execute to complete the operation. The walls will now be trimmed to fit perfectly under the stairs.
By using this method, you can ensure that the storage area under the stairs is properly enclosed, with the walls seamlessly adjusted to the stair’s structure.
