Issue Description
How to create custom keyboard shortcuts to streamline access to frequently used commands.
Solution
You have the flexibility to create, modify, or delete keyboard shortcuts, which are stored within the current Work Environment. This customization allows quick access to essential commands, improving productivity and reducing reliance on the menu bar.
Accessing Keyboard Shortcuts Menu.
- Navigate to Options > Work Environment > Keyboard Shortcuts.
Select or Create a Shortcut Scheme.
- In the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, ensure the appropriate scheme is selected (the one currently used in your Work Environment). Archicad comes with default schemes, but you can create a custom one if needed.
- To modify an existing scheme, first, check that the scheme is not locked.
Choose the Command.
- In the list of commands, locate the function for which you want to create a shortcut. For example, search for the "Display Order" command using the search bar or by manually expanding the categories.
Assigning a Keyboard Shortcut.
- Once the command is selected, click on the field under the Shortcut section to input your desired key combination (e.g., Ctrl + Shift + D).
- After entering the key combination, click Assign to bind the new shortcut to the command.
Checking for Conflicts.
- Ensure the new shortcut does not conflict with existing shortcuts. If there’s a conflict, Archicad will notify you, and you’ll have the option to resolve it by changing or removing the conflicting shortcut.
Review Existing Shortcuts.
- To get a comprehensive list of all active shortcuts, click Show Shortcut List in Browser. This opens a browser window displaying the entire set of shortcuts for easy reference.
Assigning to Scheme.
- Once the assign button is clicked, the Shorcut Scheme will be changed to “Custom”.
- Go to Shortcut Schemes tab, Click on the Scheme you want to apply it to, then click “Redefine”.
- Make sure that the selected redefined Shortcut Scheme is the one that is used by the current Work Environment Profile.
Saving and Applying Changes
- Click OK to confirm and to close the Work Environment dialog.
