My project involves designing a staircase where each tread has a different width, resulting in an unconventional stair layout. I am looking for a solution within Archicad to create this unique stair configuration. How can I modify or create a custom stair in Archicad to accommodate varying tread widths?
Solution
Archicad allows for the modification of stair perimeters to accommodate unique treads by using the Boundary Selection method.
1. Select the stair with Boundary Selection:
Begin by selecting the stairs. While hovering over the stair’s edge, press TAB to toggle between the Boundary Selection and Baseline Selection options. Ensure the Boundary Selection mode is activated.
2. Add nodes for each tread's endpoint:
Once in Boundary Selection, click to add nodes along the stair’s perimeter. These nodes will mark the endpoints of each tread. Adding nodes at these points enables more control over the shape and dimensions of each individual tread.
3. Adjust the perimeter to offset tread widths:
After defining the endpoints, manually offset the edge of each tread according to the unique dimensions specified in the design. By manipulating the nodes, the width of each tread can be adjusted to create the irregular or custom stair design required.
This method provides the flexibility needed to model stairs with unequal treads while maintaining the integrity of the overall design.
