Issue description
In the current project, the structure is shaped like a half-circle. There is a need to add schematic placements for both beams and columns, which will later be labeled using grids. Is there an automatic way to accomplish this efficiently in Archicad?
Solution
Archicad provides an option to create an automatic Grid System that can model both columns and beams for radial-shaped structures. Here's how to set it up:
In Floor Plan View
Navigate to Design > Grid System.
In the Grid System Settings
Set the Geometry to Radial Grid System. Input the length of the radius.
Check the checkbox for Elements at Grid line intersections, then select Column.
TIP: You can configure the Column by clicking the Settings button.Check the Default Beams on Grid lines checkbox, then select Curved.
TIP: You can configure the Beam by clicking the Settings button. In the Naming rules tab, set it to Generate automatically.
Under the Grid positions, input the distances of the Grid with each other. You also have the option to select Distribute. This way, the Grid will be distributed equally later upon placing it.
Click OK when set.
When placing the Grid System
The first click defines the location of the anchor point you selected in the settings
The second click defines the rotation of the grid system
If you selected the Distribute function as well, then one or two additional clicks are required to define the full distances for distribution in one or both directions, depending whether you checked Distribute for one or both directions.
