Issue Description
When designing buildings, incorporating detailed roof structures such as rafters, purlins, beams, and trusses can be vital for accuracy and visualization purposes. These elements are critical for both structural integrity and ensuring the design complies with real-world building standards. But how easily can these roof structures be modeled in Archicad?
Solution
Archicad simplifies the process of creating roof structures with its RoofMaker tool. This feature automates the creation of rafters, beams, purlins, and other roof elements, ensuring that these components are accurately represented within your model.
Here’s how to use RoofMaker:
1: Select the Roof Element
- In your Floor Plan view, select the roof element where the structure will be added. This ensures that the roof structure aligns perfectly with the roof geometry
2: Access the RoofMaker Tool
- Navigate to Design > Roof Extras > RoofMaker > Roof Wizard.
3: Modify Roof Structure Settings
- The Roof Wizard Settings panel allows you to adjust the properties of each component, such as Rafters, Beams, Purlins, Trimmers, and Ridges. You can modify dimensions, spacing, and other structural parameters to match your design requirements.
4: Finalize the Roof Structure
-
Once all settings are adjusted, click OK to generate the roof structure. Archicad will automatically insert the chosen elements, creating a detailed and realistic model.
TIP: You can manually add each roof Structure but make sure that the Geometry Method of the Roof element is set to Single Plane.
Optional Enhancement:
For additional detail, consider adding Roof Sheeting using the Roof Accessories Add-on. This will give your roof a more complete appearance by incorporating sheeting profiles that represent various roofing materials.
