Issue Description
I have a custom surface that I need to represent in a 2D Interior Elevation drawing. Is there a way to create a custom fill to match the surface?
Solution
To create a custom fill:
1: Sketch the pattern in any 2D window (The best practice is to use an independent worksheet).
You can use Lines, Arcs, Solid Fills, and Hotspots. It's important to note that Polylines, Splines, and the Text tool, cannot be used in this process. If the custom fill requires text, it must be traced manually using available drawing tools.
TIP: It is important to scale the pattern the same as the reference image so that it will match the surface pattern when used.
2: Select all the components of the pattern then copy. Edit > Copy.
3: Proceed to Options > Element Attributes > Fills.
4: In the Fills window, Select (+)New…Under New Fill, select Symbol Fill.
5: Back to the Fills window,
- Select it to use with “Surface Cover Fill”.
- Under Appearance tab, select “Paste”. Check on the Pattern Unit Size and the Strokes. Adjust values if necessary. Click OK.
6: To assign the Fill to the Surface, go to Options > Element Attributes > Surfaces. Look for the Surface used then under Cover Fill Foreground tab, select the custom fill created. Click OK.
