Issue Description
Creating a Barrel Vaulted roof.
Solution
Archicad offers a dedicated tool for complex roof shapes: the Shell tool. The Shell tool allows you to create curved and organic forms, providing three main construction methods:
- Extruded
- Revolved
- Ruled
These methods give flexibility in designing various shapes, including curved roofs.
Creating an Extruded Shell Roof:
1. Activate the Shell Tool:
- Open the Floor Plan or 3D view.
- Select the Shell Tool from the toolbox.
- In the Tool Settings, set the Construction Method to "Extruded."
2. Define the Reference Line:
- On the Floor Plan or in the 3D window, click to mark the starting point of the shell's reference line.
- A second click will define the end of this line, representing the length of the curve.
- The third click will set the width of the shell. This completes the basic outline of your extruded shell shape.
Once the shell is generated, further adjustments can be made to fine-tune its curvature and structure, ensuring it aligns with your design vision.
TIP: You can further fine-tune the geometry of the roof by converting it to a Morph
