Issue Description
I am having difficulty selecting elements as my model is becoming increasingly cluttered, making it hard to pinpoint specific items.
Solution
When an element in Archicad is crowded by other elements, it can be tricky to select it directly. Here are several methods you can use to easily select that specific element:
1. Use Quick Selection (Magnet Icon)
- Make sure the Quick Selection tool (the magnet icon in the Toolbar or Info Box) is active. This allows you to hover over elements, and Archicad will automatically detect and highlight the selectable one.
- When hovering, click once to select the highlighted element. If multiple elements overlap, Archicad will cycle through them each time you click.
2. Tab Key to Cycle Through Elements
- When multiple elements are stacked or overlapping, you can use the Tab key to cycle through the elements underneath the cursor.
- Keep the cursor in place over the crowded area and press Tab repeatedly until the desired element is highlighted. Then click to select it.
3. Select by Element Type
- Open the Find & Select palette by pressing Ctrl+F (Windows) or Cmd+F (macOS).
- In the palette, define the criteria (e.g., element type like Wall, Door, Object) to narrow down the selection to the type of element you're trying to select.
- Apply the search, and Archicad will highlight the elements that match the criteria.
4. Hide Layers Temporarily
- Temporarily hide the layers of surrounding elements to make it easier to select the one you need.
