Issue Description
Files in PDF format are being published using the Archicad Publisher. However, the files do not appear at the specified storage path or location, and the field remains empty.
Solution
If files, such as PDFs, are being published from Archicad using the Publisher but do not appear at the specified storage location and the field remains empty, this issue could be caused by a few factors.
-
Check the File Name
- Special Characters: Ensure that the file name doesn’t contain special characters (e.g., *, &, %, etc.) or start with a dot. These may cause issues with saving or displaying the file.
- Long File Names: Ensure the file name is not too long, as this can also prevent proper saving.
-
Check the Storage Path
- File Permissions: Ensure that you have the correct write permissions to save files in the specified folder. If you don’t have permission, the files may not be saved even if the publishing process seems to be complete.
- Network Drives: If you are saving to a network drive, check if the network path is accessible. If the connection is lost, the files won’t be saved.
-
Check Publisher Settings
- Go to Document → Publisher Set.
- In the Publisher Set Properties, double-check the output folder and path to ensure that the files are being directed to the correct location.
-
Verify Output Format
- Ensure that you have selected the correct output format (e.g., PDF, DWG, etc.) in the Publisher Set settings.
- If there is a format mismatch or if an invalid setting is applied, the files may not be generated properly.
-
Check Auto-Save Location
- Sometimes Archicad may save files in a default location if the specified path is incorrect. Check Archicad’s Auto-Save folder or the temporary files location.
-
Run as Administrator (Windows Only):
- If file permission issues persist, try running Archicad as an administrator. Right-click the Archicad icon and select Run as Administrator to ensure you have the necessary permissions.
-
Update Archicad
- Ensure that you are running the latest version of Archicad. If the issue arose after an update, check if a patch is available that resolves publishing issues.
If the issue persists.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, try saving to a different location or folder to see if the problem persists. Or contact Technical Support.
