Issue Description
When publishing a DWG file from Archicad, all Xrefs are included by default. However, only one Xref is needed in the export, and the rest should be excluded. The challenge is that even after hiding the unused Xrefs in the Archicad view, they still appear in the exported DWG file. How can the unnecessary Xrefs be hidden or excluded from the export?
Solution
In Archicad, hidden Xrefs are still saved with the host file when publishing to DWG. This means that even if you have turned off layers containing unused Xrefs, they will still be included in the export.
To temporarily remove unnecessary Xrefs from the file, use the "Unload" option. Unloading temporarily removes the selected Xrefs from the base file without permanently detaching them.
- Go to Xref Manager: Navigate to File > External Content > Xref Manager.
- In the Xref Manager, select the Xrefs you don’t need for this export. Click on the Unload button, then confirm by clicking OK.
- Proceed to publish your layout.
Once the Xrefs are unloaded, they will no longer be included in the exported DWG.
Reloading Xrefs:
If needed, the unloaded Xrefs can easily be restored by returning to the Xref Manager and clicking the Reload button.
Permanently Removing Xrefs: If the Xref no longer needs to be in the file at all, you can permanently remove it by choosing the Detach option instead of Unload.
