Issue Description
Multiple elements are selected and need to be grouped, but the Group command under Edit > Group > Group is not available or cannot be applied.
Solution
If you're unable to group elements in Archicad, there could be a few reasons causing this issue.
1. Check the Active Project View:
-
- The Group function can be used in most project views, like the Floor Plan, 3D Window, Worksheet, and Detail Views, but it cannot be used in Sections and Elevations.
- Make sure you are in a supported view.
2. Ensure Layers Are Unlocked:
-
-
- Elements can only be grouped if their layers are unlocked.
- Go to Document > Layers > Layer Settings and ensure that the layers containing the elements you want to group are not locked or protected.
-
-
- Locked elements cannot be grouped.
- Go to Edit > Locking > Unlock All or Unlock Selected Elements to ensure the elements are not locked.
4. Check Grouping Settings:
-
- Make sure Auto Group is enabled.
- Go to Edit > Grouping > Auto Group
5. Check if Elements are Editable:
-
- If you're working with a Teamwork Project, ensure that you have permission to edit the elements and they are not reserved by another user.
