Description
I am currently working on a project that involves stair detailing. Is there a method of creating a schedule for stairs that accurately depicts the 3D perspective? At present, when I integrate 3D Fields in the schedule, it solely showcases a small portion of the stairs.
Solution
By default, the 3D View will only show a sample structure, but there is a workaround to show the finished design in the schedule. To do this:
Open the 3D view of the stair.
- In the 3D view, go to 3D Projection settings. View > 3D View Options > 3D Projection Settings.
- In the 3D Projection Settings, you can toggle between different views depending on the requirements of your schedule. For this example, I will use the Isometric Axonometry under Parallel projection.
- Once you have the desired view, save it as a view in the View Map. You can then manually save this view as an image or take a screenshot for convenience. For larger projects with numerous Stair designs, you may opt to create a publisher set for different views so in case there are updates in the design, you can just publish to update the images.
Go back to the Schedule and click Annotate in the 3D Axonometry field.
Inside the Element Preview tab, paste the screenshot of the Stair and cover the existing 3D Axonometry by bringing the image’s display to the front then click OK to return to Schedule View.
TIP: You can adjust the size of the 3D View by changing the scale to “To Fit”.
