Description
I intended to replicate a ladder design using the Stair Tool but encountered difficulty achieving the desired incline of the ladder starting from the ground. Is there a method available to recreate the ladder using the stair tool?
Solution
- Select the Stair Tool from the Toolbox and place a simple stair in your model space. Use the default settings for now.
- To achieve the ladder appearance, we need to modify the following:
- Select your simple stair and Open the Stair Selection Settings then click Stair > Structure > Flight Structure and select Stringer Only.
- In the Flight - Stringers tab, under the Flight Structure Settings subtype, select Structure Shape - Straight.
- On The same tab, under the Support Connection subtype, click the Flight end and select Horizontal Connection then set the dx to: 300 and dy to: 100.
-
- To remove the Riser, go to Finish then under the Finish tab select Tread.
What you should now have is this:
To adjust the pitch, number of steps, and overall height:
- Go back to the Stair tab then under Treads and Risers, uncheck all parameters except Going and set it to 100.
- Under The Geometry and Positioning subtype, set the Number of Risers, select Fixed Going Depth, and set it to 100.
After following these steps, your model should now resemble a ladder.
TIP: Parameters such as number of risers and riser height can be modified based on the requirement. For further customization, consider adjusting the settings of the Flight Stringer.
For 90 degree ladders, consider using Archicad object Ladders which are available in Archicad library.
