Issue Description
There’s a need to create a stair where the first step is L-shaped. This type of design can be visually appealing and functional, especially in spaces that require an elegant transition at the beginning of the staircase. How can this be achieved in Archicad?
Solution
Creating stairs that begin with a larger, L-shaped first step is a common design feature, and Archicad provides an option to accommodate this. You can set the first step as a landing to achieve the desired shape. Here's how to do it:
-
Select the Stair Tool:
Begin by opening the Floor Plan view in Archicad. Activate the Stair Tool from the Tool Palette. -
Draw the Stair Baseline:
Start the stair by clicking to define the first vertex of the stair baseline. This will trigger the appearance of the Stair Pet Palette. -
Set the First Step as a Landing:
In the Pet Palette, choose the "Landing" option. This allows the first step of the stair to act as a larger platform, which is key to creating the L-shape.Tip: To switch on different options in the Pet Palette, you can either manually click on it or press "G" to toggle.
-
Define the Landing’s Size and Shape:
Define the second vertex by either clicking a point on the plan or specifying the distance manually, depending on the size of the landing needed for the design. -
Switch to Flight Mode for the Remaining Steps:
Once the landing is drawn, return to the Pet Palette and switch the mode from "Landing" back to "Flight". This enables you to continue drawing the remaining stairs in a regular step format.
