Issue Description
I have created a curtain wall and I want to make it more realistic by putting a curtain wall anchor on the slab. How can I do it?
Solution
The available types to save an object related to the Curtain Wall are Cap, Frame, and Panel. You first need to choose one of these types and then manually change its GDL type. Here’s how to create a Curtain Wall Anchor.
1: Model the object using basic elements then Save it as an object. File > Libraries and Objects > Save Selection as... > Choose within the 3 that are related to the Curtain Wall. Please take note to model it at the Project Origin.
2:Open the GDL editor of the object. Go to File > Libraries and Objects > Open Object.. > Select the Object in the Library.
3:Under the “Details” tab, click the “Select Subtype” button at the upper right of the editor window. Change it’s subtype to “Curtain Wall Junction”. (Model Element > Building Element > Curtain Wall Component > Curtain Wall Junction). Also make sure that the “Placeable” option is checked.
4: Exit the GDL Editor then proceed with the Curtain Wall “Edit” mode.
5: Select “Junction” then go to Curtain Wall - Junction Selection Settings. The custom Anchor is now available.
TIP: In most cases, the geometry of the Junction is placed and rotated compared to its original geometry modeled from the basic elements.
From this point, you would have to define variables for offsetting it in X, Y, and Z directions so as to position it at the exact desired location.
