Description
I want to model a staircase where the last and first step next at the landing is offset from it's edge. I can achieve a similar result by stretching the length of the whole staircase, but the distance seems to be random. How can I configure this properly?
Solution
There are two methods to adjust the Riser offset distance from the landing.
- Through the pet palette by clicking one of the nodes at the corners of the landing. By default, it only affects the clicked corner, but you can still change it to the “Entire Stair”.
- Through the Stair Selection Settings. To do this:
- Open the Stair Selection Settings. On the Geometry and Positioning tab, go to Turning Type Options.
- Change the Riser offsets from corner to Fixed riser offset then input the values of the offset distance. Click “OK”.
By setting the riser offset to a fixed value, you ensure that any stretching or modification of the staircase won't impact the offset distance between the risers and the landing edge. This setting is particularly useful if you need to comply with specific building codes or regulations, in which case you may also want to consider using the Minimum riser offset option.
