Description
I want to enhance my Door Schedule by adding automatic dimensions to the 3D Preview. Currently, I manually add dimensions to each door opening, which is time-consuming and error-prone. I need an automatic method to generate dimensions based on predefined parameters, streamlining the process and ensuring consistency. How can I achieve this in my workflow?
Solution
To add automatic dimension in the 3D View of the Door in Schedule:
- Go to Door Schedule
- Select one 3D Front View
- Check Add Automatic Dimensions
Depending on your specific requirements, you can use various parameters to define the dimensions:
- Wallhole Size - The Wallhole is the part cut out of the wall to accommodate the whole opening structure.
- Reveal Size - The Reveal Dimensions measure the width/height of the window opening between the reveals.
- Unit Size - Unit Dimensions are the width and height of the whole opening structure.
- Egress Size (Door Only) - Opening’s unit width, subtracting the frame width.
- Leaf Size (Door Only) - Dimension of the Door Panel
- Nominal Size - The Height and Width parameters that are "Set as Nominal" in the Settings dialog box (Custom Settings, Nominal Sizes and Tolerance page)
Dimension line distance from the 3D preview can also be set using the Dimension Line Distance tab. You can also modify the position of the dimension using the Dimension Position tab.
Automatic dimensions are available only for those parameters above. Any intermediate dimensions have to be added manually.
Adding Automatic dimension allows for precise and consistent measurements, reducing the risk of manual errors and saving valuable time. Nevertheless, you can still adjust the dimension manually using the Annotate button when selecting the 3D preview.
