Issue Description
I want to start working with Hotlinks in Archicad but I don't understand what the Hotlink Master Layer is or does?
Solution
In Archicad, a Hotlink Master Layer is a special layer that controls the visibility of all elements within a Hotlink Module. When you place a Hotlink into a project, the entire module is assigned to a specific layer known as the Hotlink Master Layer.
The visibility of the Hotlink Master Layer determines whether the Hotlink Module is visible or hidden in the project. If the Hotlink Master Layer is turned off, all elements within that Hotlink, regardless of their individual layers, will be hidden. Conversely, if the Hotlink Master Layer is turned on, the visibility of individual elements within the Hotlink will depend on their respective layers.
This feature is useful for managing complex projects where multiple modules or repetitive elements are used, as it allows you to control the visibility of entire Hotlink Modules with a single layer setting.
How do I know what the Master Layer is for my Hotlink?
- Select the Hotlink module or an element within the Hotlink in your project.
- Right-click on the selection.
- From the menu, choose Hotlink Selection Settings.
The prompted window allows you to view, manage and adjust settings specific to the selected Hotlink, such as layers, placement, and other module-related properties.
