Description
Upon attempting to import a customized image from an external source into your Surface Library, you may notice that the file type and the image size changes for unknown reasons. What is happening?
Solution
To prevent issues when importing a custom image to the Surface Library:
- Open the Load Image from Library prompt.
- Search for any surfaces that have the same file name as the image you plan to import.
- If a match exists, rename your new image file before importing to avoid conflicts and overwriting.
- Proceed to import the renamed image.
In the example above, there are several images in the Libraries that contain the name “Siding - Barn Red b” in different formats. If you try to add “siding - Barn Red b” regardless of the image format, it will disregard the addition and the program will still keep the originally loaded image.
What causes it?
The image changes its size and format because there is an existing image that has the same file name as the one being uploaded in the library. Instead of creating a new surface, Archicad reuses the existing image with the same name, causing the file type or size to appear changed.
