Issue Description
You generated a 3D document using an axonometric view in Archicad and now want to include annotations. However, you're encountering difficulty adding dimension lines to the diagonal edges.
Solution
Here are some potential solutions to this problem:
Change the Dimension tool's Geometry Method Settings.
- Set Geometry Method to Any Direction: This will allow you to create dimension lines in any direction, not just along the X, Y, or Z axes.
- Set Geometry Method to Any Plane: This setting allows adding dimensions along any plane, providing more flexibility in dimensioning complex 3D objects.
Select the right plane when creating the dimension line.
If you are still unable to create diagonal dimension lines after changing the dimension tool settings, make sure you are following this process:
- Click on the nodes of the distances you want to measure.
- Hover your mouse over the face of the object you want to measure, and click on it, as that will establish the plane to position the dimension line.
- After this, hover the mouse away to get a preview of the dimension line.
- Click once more to place the dimension line in the desired position
