Issue Description
My design features a modular, gridded ceiling system, allowing for flexible panel configurations. I want the ability to interchange the panels easily to explore and test various arrangements.
Solution
Creating a ceiling using the Curtain Wall tool in Archicad opens up new possibilities for innovative architectural designs. You can transform a typically vertical element into a striking horizontal feature. This technique allows for intricate patterns and modular arrangements.
- Activate the Curtain Wall Tool from the toolbar.
- Select the Scheme and create a pattern that consists of one panel with fixed sizes and add a frame to the top and right-hand side.
1. Draw the Curtain Wall on the Plan:
-
- Switch to the plan view of the story where you want to place the ceiling.
- Using the Boundary Option click to start drawing the Curtain Wall and outline the area that the ceiling will cover. You can use rectangular or custom shapes as needed.
After placing the Curtain Wall, switch to a 3D or elevation view.
2. Customize Panels:
- Select the curtain wall and click on the Edit banner that will appear close to your mouse arrow.
- Select individual panels within the Curtain Wall. You can replace the default panels with other materials, such as solid or perforated panels, or even create custom panel types.
- Adjust the thickness and material properties to ensure they are suitable for a ceiling application.
