Issue Description
You’re aiming to do more of your modeling in 3D, but you're finding it challenging to position elements accurately
Solution
The Editing Plane is an invisible, user-defined plane in Archicad's 3D environment where you can perform various editing tasks. It allows you to create, manipulate, and adjust elements as if you were working on a flat surface, but in the 3D space of your model. This is particularly useful for aligning objects, drawing in 3D, and making precise adjustments to your design.
Activating the Editing Plane
- Automatically by Tool Use: Many 3D editing tools will automatically activate the Editing Plane. For example, when using the Polyline, Slab, or Wall tools in 3D, the Editing Plane is engaged to facilitate drawing and editing.
- Manual Activation: You can manually activate the Editing Plane using the “Editing Plane” tool available in the “Design” menu or by pressing the shortcut (Shift + E).
Aligning the Editing Plane
The Editing Plane can be aligned to different surfaces or points within your model to suit your needs.
- Align to Face: You can align the Editing Plane to the face of any object in the model. Select the face you want to align to, and the plane will adjust accordingly.
- Align to Points: Select three points in your model to define the plane. This is useful for creating planes at custom angles.
- Align to Standard Views: Quickly align the Editing Plane to standard views such as the top, front, or side of the model.
