Issue Description
When opening the View Settings of a Detail or Worksheet, the Renovation Filter, Structure display, Graphic Override, and Design Options dropdowns are greyed out and cannot be modified. This makes it impossible to directly change view filters after a detail has been created.
Solution
To adjust filters for a Detail View, you must modify the filter settings at the View level first and then create a new version of the Detail Viewpoint or rebuild the Detail as needed.
Why are the Filters Greyed Out? (click to expand)
This behavior occurs because Detail and Worksheet viewpoints are 2D snapshots that inherit and preserve the settings from their source view at the time of creation.
When you save a Detail view, Archicad essentially "locks" the filters to that view, preventing any further changes to the filters for that specific saved Detail.
Correct workflow for creating a Detail
- Open the Source View (Floor Plan, Section, Elevation, etc.) from which you want to create the detail.
- Set the desired View filters in the source view using one of these methods:
- Select the desired filters from the Quick Options Bar dropdown
- Use the Renovation Palette (Window > Palettes > Renovation)
- Go to the Document menu and navigate to the target filters menu from the dropdown.
- Create your detail using the Detail Tool while the desired configuration is active.
If you already created Details with wrong filters
- Open the Detail's source view (Floor Plan, Section, etc.).
- Set the correct Filters in the View's Settings.
- You might get the following Warning, for which you will need to select Change Anyway.
- You might get the following Warning, for which you will need to select Change Anyway.
- Depending on the type of Detail:
- Unlinked Marker detail: Create a new detail viewpoint to replace the existing one.
- Source Marker detail: Right click on the detail in the Navigator and select Rebuild from Source View. Confirm the change and the Detail will rebuild.
- Delete the Details which are no longer needed.
