Organizing IDs in Your Project

Issue Description

After reorganizing elements in your project, it's now very clear that the Element IDs do not display in an organized manner.

Solution 

You can use the Element ID Manager to set the ID numbers of the project’s elements based on their attributes or to modify automatically generated ID numbers. 

The configurations you create and save with the Element ID Manager will help you prepare project elements for clearer reading and scheduling.

Reorganizing Element IDs using the Element ID Manager

Using the example above, follow these steps to reorganize and renumber element IDs:

1. Select the windows (or elements) in the desired numbering order—left to right for windows in this example.

2. Open Document > Listing Extras and launch the Element ID Manager dialog.

   Important Information: The Element ID Manager command is only available from a Story View.

   

3. In the Sort Elements tab, check Unique ID for each Element and remove Element ID from the selected criteria list.

   

4. Open the ID Format tab and set the format boxes until the preview matches your desired ID style.
5. Click Change IDs to view the selected elements' new IDs for confirmation.

6. Click OK to apply the changes.
