Issue description
You have imported a PDF into Archicad and want to explode it to use within your project. You follow the correct steps, but the PDF does not explode.
Solution
Tip: For a detailed overview see Importing and exploding PDFs.
- Decide where you would like to place your PDF; Plan, Section, Worksheet, etc.
- Go to File > External Content > Place External Drawing.
-
With the drawing selected, right-click and select Explode into Current View.
- In the Explode into Current View dialog box, verify or change the options and click OK.
- The PDF content will now be converted into 2D Archicad elements.
If the PDF still does not explode as expected, check the following:
- When you explode a drawing (either a DWG or PDF), the resulting elements are assigned a New renovation status by default. If the New Elements are set to Hide in the Renovation Filter Options, the exploded elements will not be visible.
- The PDF may contain no vector data. Archicad can only convert vector-based content into editable 2D elements; raster-only PDFs cannot be exploded.
