Issue Description
Occasionally, you might receive 2D DWG/DXF floor plan files that can be directly imported into Archicad to initiate your model. These files exclusively consist of 2D data. What is the optimal approach for leveraging these files to generate 3D content?
Solution
Adjust the tool settings to your desired values, such as configuring the height and thickness for the wall tool, and proceed to trace over the lines. Alternatively, employ the magic wand tool using the following steps:
-
Navigate to Design > Magic Wand Settings. Set the desired values beforehand
-
Activate the Magic Wand by pressing the Spacebar.
-
Click on an existing polyline or polygon.
The Magic Wand tool identifies and traces linear or polygonal shapes within existing elements. Subsequently, it generates a new element based on the identified polygon.
- If you click on an edge or node, the Magic Wand follows the element or element chain.
- Clicking in empty space or on a surface prompts the Magic Wand to trace the closed geometric area formed by the nearest elements.
