Issue Description
When installing an on-site version of BIMcloud or BIMcloud Basic, during the configuration process, be sure to configure the directories for the Data, Projects, Libraries and Cache folders to be stored on a hard drive which is internal to the computer where BIMcloud or BIMcloud Basic is installed.
Solution
For highest reliability we strongly advise against using External Storage devices for BIMcloud Data, Projects, Libraries and Cache folder locations. This includes standalone RAID, NAS or SAN devices even if connected via Thunderbolt, CAT 6 Ethernet, or other high speed connections. Even the most robust configurations can experience data disconnection and potential performance issues due to common circumstances such as power outage, minor interruptions in connection between the host and storage or seemingly innocuous human actions. This can result in the inability to login or access projects in BIMcloud and BIMcloud Basic. Such occurrences can be rare, but even one occurrence can cost your firm hundreds or thousands of dollars in downtime during the period to restore the system back to normal operation.
External Storage devices do have a place in offices for standard file storage, archiving and backing up data. However, for highest reliability, configure the BIMcloud and BIMcloud Basic Data, Project, Libraries and Cache folders to be stored on a hard drive which is internal to the computer. Any setups configured to store the Data, Projects, Libraries and Cache folders on external storage devices are subject to limited or no support.
